The Female Sports Forum Celebrates the Success of the Inaugural Women’s Sport Series

Belfast, September 9, 2023 – The Female Sports Forum is delighted to reflect on the resounding success of its inaugural Women’s Sport Series event. Hosted on September 7, 2023, at the A and L Goodbody Lounge, Kingspan Stadium, this event achieved its mission of promoting networking, inspiration, and collaboration within the Northern Ireland sports community. With over 65 people in attendance, this event was highly successful!

The Women’s Sport Series, aimed to provide a space to create a Women’s Sports Network in Northern Ireland, brought together enthusiastic individuals and organizations committed to advancing women and girls’ participation in sports. This event marked the first event the Female Sports Forum has hosted in almost three years.

Key Highlights from the Event:

Networking:  The event provided a platform for attendees to connect, sharing their experience across different sports backgrounds and roles within the sector. There were plenty of opportunities for individuals to connect with old friends and new faces in the sector.

Inspiration: Elite athletes (Victoria Catterson, Fiona Tuite, and Sara-Louise) were a fantastic panel sharing their personal journeys, triumphs, and challenges. Their stories gave insight into both the individual and team sports atmosphere. It was wonderful for these athletes to take time out of their busy schedules to join Denise Watson on stage.

Collaboration:  National Governing Bodies (NGBs) showcased their impactful participation programs. These programs, including Women on Water, Young Ambassadors, and Shooting Stars, highlighted the growth and empowerment that is happening among women and girls in sports.

Natalie Niederman, Inclusive Participation Officer of the Female Sports Forum, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This event marked a significant milestone for the Female Sports Forum. We are excited to create a supportive network for women in the sports community, breaking down barriers and expanding sporting opportunities for women and girls in Northern Ireland.”

The Female Sports Forum extends gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and collaborators for contributing to the event’s success. This event signifies the beginning of many more projects and events that the Female Sports Forum hopes to run.
