The Warriors this month went away to Scotland to participate in the Celtic Cup. While it might not have been strongest performance along the terms of winning. It was still great for the team to get more opportunities to play against internationally ranked top teams. They played against Wales, Scotland and  Zimbabwe. Additionally the pool teams was announced for the Netball World Youth Cup 2025. The Northern Ireland U21 squad are joined in Poll B by Australia, Samoa, Scotland and  Singapore where they all play off against each other in a round robin format. The 123.ie National Cross Country Championships was held at the picturesque Castle Irvine Estate in Co. Fermanagh on the afternoon of November 17th. The women’s race saw Ann-Marie McGlynn win, who had just won the national marathon title only three weeks ago. While Lucy Foster (Willowfield Harriers) was the winner of the Women’s U20 title, having a twenty second margin of victory. The Belfast athlete lead early in the race. The home crowd were delighted as local athlete Annabel Morrison (Enniskillen Running Club) finished with silver ahead of Avril Millerick (Youghal AC) who battled to claim bronze.  These athletes along with others will be joined for the European Cross Country Championships in December. The U20 women’s team will consist of Lucy Foster (Willowfield Harriers), Annabell Morrison (Enniskillen RC), Avril Millerick (Youghal AC), Eva Bartlett (Lagan Valley AC), and Caitlin Hughes (Swinford AC) , along with Anna Gardiner (East Down AC) who lead the Irish team in Brussels last year.

Rebecca Edwards announced her retirement this month from Rowing. Edwards competed in the women’s eight for GB at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and in the women’s pair at this year’s Paris Games. In July 2023, she helped Great Britain win a women’s eight gold medal at the World Cup in Lucerne. Rebecca also rowed at Queens University Belfast and has been a great role model for women and girls to chase their dreams cross Northern Ireland. We are excited to see what she does next. The Northern Irish Women’s Team will be playing Norway at the end of the month and they hope to move forward to compete Euros. The women won the first round against Croatia. They hope repeat a victory over the team and secure their space!
